How it all began: RK’s Death Row Rescue
RK’s
Death Row Rescue was created in 2000 when I met a female Dalmatian at our local animal shelter who was slated for euthanasia
after
no one had come in to adopt her during her short stay at the shelter. After
spending just a few minutes with her, I realized she was a sweet dog and
deserved a second chance at life. So I took her home! After finding it fairly
easy to find her a new home by simply making up posters and flyers, I went back
and got the next “rescue” , and that’s what started the ball rolling. It hasn’t
stopped since!
To date I have rescued, fostered, and
re-adopted out well over 225 dogs to loving homes and families. I am an “all
breed” rescue, having rescued everything from little tiny Chihuahuas to a Great
Dane Mastiff mix. All shapes, sizes, ages, and breeds have come through my door and back into someone else's.
Some have arrived with very sad tales to tell, while others have come from
unfortunate circumstances. But no matter the story or the reason, all have been
welcomed into my home, or as I like to call it, my “doggy hotel”. They are my
“guests” until new homes can be found for them, and they are all treated as such.
